The Zellers brand, unfortunately, started to experience slow sales due to fierce retail competition beginning in the early 2000s. Unable to recover from its losses, Zellers closed its last retail location in Canada in 2013. Recently, Zellers has announced that it is making a comeback with the launch of 25 new retail locations across Canada! Unlike the Zellers of old (which occupied entire buildings), these new, scaled-down Zellers shops will be located within Hudson Bay stores. In addition to the in-person Zellers shops, there will also be an e-commerce site available for customers who prefer to shop from the comfort of their homes. Zellers have said it will keep the vintage red and white aesthetics that Canadians know and love in their new shops at Hudson Bay. Best of all, Zellers is bringing back the Zellers Diner…as a food truck! The social media team at Zellers has gone on Instagram to find out what their fans wish to see on The Zellers Diner on Wheels menu, and most of their followers have said they want the old classics back! According to Narcity, the Zellers Diner on Wheels will tour various Hudson Bay locations in BC, Alberta and Ontario. They will bring back customer favourites such as the Big Z Burger, the Hot Chicken Sandwich, Chicken Fingers, Fries & Gravy, and Grilled Cheese. These menu items will be priced at almost the same level as those found at Zellers Diners in the early 2000s! No wonder Zellers fans on social media have reported long lineups at these Zellers food trucks!
